Mandie Schake

Mandie took her first yoga class in 1996 and it has been a touchstone in her life ever since!  Her practice ultimately led her to fulfilling her career dream of helping others by becoming an Occupational Therapist specializing in neurological rehabilitation.  She is fortunate to be able to work in a clinic with individuals that have gone through a brain event and/or injury through addressing their mobility, vision, cognitive, and mental well-being challenges with the ultimate goal of getting them back to their lives.  Experiencing the limitations of the medical system first hand with respect to therapy limits and lack of focus on community re-integration, led Mandie to seek out a method to integrate the practice of yoga into her clinic sessions and in the community.

Through the encouragement of her yoga teacher and mentor, Mandie obtained her 200-RYT through Yoga Medicine in 2018 and is currently pursuing her 500 hour therapeutic specialist certification through the same organization.  She is certified in vestibular (dizziness/balance) rehabilitation, concussion management, functional nutrition, and pain neuroscience, with speciality trainings in hypermobility, migraine, POTS, and functional neurological disorder. Her education and long-standing practice have given her the foundation to be firmly rooted in the yoga philosophy, while also providing the guidance for ANYbody and mind to receive the benefits of the practice throughout the lifespan.

In Mandie’s classes, you can expect a practice that will provide cues for stability and mobility, while providing integration of the energetic benefits of the practice that help us live our yoga off the mat.  She hopes to provide the environment and practice where you feel safe to turn inward in class and explore what shows up.  But also keeping in mind that laughter is one of the best energetic benefits!
